What's Good, Long Beach?: Sweet Retreat

The latest installment of my food column for gazettes.com is up, and it's all about one of my favorite things on planet Earth: the almighty doughnut. Specifically, the doughnuts at Long Beach's Sweet Retreat, a tiny shop off of PCH and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue—next to a dry cleaner and a motel. What's Good?

I'm super excited to say that I now have a food column for one of Long Beach's longtime news sources, the Gazette Newspapers! How cool is that?

The first edition is up now. It's about a new falafel joint that opened up right next to the Art Theatre of Long Beach. Read it here.

In the Books: Visit Anaheim Destination Guide

My first post here is a celebratory one. A truly awesome team of talented editors and I just wrapped a fun project that encompassed a lot of planning, research, writing and editing: the Destination Guide for Visit Anaheim, formerly the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau.

It was a long process, but like any magazine baby, it was pretty nice holding the finished product in our hands. Of course, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to write about Anaheim's thriving craft beer scene.
